Educational Guideline for Protecting Children’s Mental Health in
Crisis Situations (For Professionals)
How
do crises affect children's mental health? When children experience war,
separation from their families, or displacement, they may suffer significant
physical and psychological harm. If left unaddressed, these traumas can have
lasting effects that extend into adulthood. Crises are particularly difficult
and dangerous for children and may lead to long-term mental health problems. In
light of this, providing psychological support and protection for children
during crises is of critical importance. To address this need, the Office for
Mental, Social, and Addiction Health of the Ministry of Health has developed
and published a guideline for professionals on protecting children’s mental
health in crisis situations.
