The "No to Accidents" campaign is a valuable social movement.
A one-day conference on traffic and road accidents was held at Farabi
Hospital's amphitheater with the presence of Dr. Imani, Deputy of Health
of the University, Dr. Rahimi, Deputy of Research and Technology of the
University, senior officials of the University of Medical Sciences,
traffic police, and emergency and nursing students of the University of
Medical Sciences.
Dr. Imani, Deputy of Health of the University:
Unfortunately, road accidents are one of the biggest social and health
crises. In Iran, thousands of people lose their lives every year due to
traffic accidents. This shows that we must strive more than ever to
preserve the country's human capital.
The "No to Accidents" campaign has been defined for the Ministry of
Health in three short-term, medium-term, and long-term programs. Its
short-term program is in a 45-day period from February 19 to April 4,
its medium-term program is for one and a half to two years, and its
long-term program is defined for up to 3 years. The goal set for this
plan is to reduce road fatalities by up to 50%.
Our most important task is to raise public awareness, and raising public
awareness will be achieved through education.
The "No to Accidents"
campaign, relying on public awareness, identifies and explains risk
factors.
If we all pay attention to points to prevent accidents, we may achieve
more than the Ministry of Health's 50% target for reducing mortality in
these three years, which include observing the speed limit, not using
mobile phones, and paying attention to the front while driving.
"Accidents have serious psychological consequences for people injured in
accidents or the families of people who died in accidents. These
problems can severely affect their quality of life."
